It was narrated that Abu Qutaadah said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Good dreams come from Allaah and bad dreams come from the Shaytaan. If anyone sees a bad dream that scares him, let him spit drily to his left and seek refuge with Allaah from its evil, then it will not harm him.”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3292)
It was narrated from Jaabir that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“If any one of you sees a dream that he dislikes, let him spit drily to his left three times and seek refuge with Allaah from the Shaytaan three times, and turn over onto his other side.”

(Narrated by Muslim, 2262).
It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“If any one of you sees something that he dislikes, let him get up and pray, and not tell people about it.”

(Narrated by Muslim, 2263).

So we may sum up from these hadeeths that when a person sees a dream which he dislikes then he:

  1. He should spit drily to his left three times, i.e., blowing with a little bit of saliva.
  2. He should seek refuge with Allaah from the accursed Shaytaan.
  3. He should seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of this dream.
  4. He should turn over from the side on which he was sleeping, so if he was lying on his left side he should turn over to his right side, and vice versa.
  5. He should get up and pray.
  6. He should not tell anyone about it.

And Allah knows best.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked:

In recent times the celebration of Valentine’s Day has become widespread, especially among female students. It is a Christian festival where people dress completely in red, including clothes and shoes, and they exchange red flowers. We hope that you can explain the ruling on celebrating this festival, and what your advice is to Muslims with regard to such matters; may Allaah bless you and take care of you.

He replied:

Celebrating Valentine’s Day is not permissible for a number of reasons.

1-     It is an innovated festival for which there is no basis in Islam.

2-     It promotes love and infatuation.

3-     It calls for hearts to be preoccupied with foolish matters that are contrary to the way of the righteous salaf (may Allaah be pleased with them).

It is not permissible on this day to do any of the things that are characteristic of this festival, whether that has to do with food, drinks, clothing, exchanging gifts or anything else.

The Muslim should be proud of his religion and should not be a weak character who follows every Tom, Dick and Harry. I ask Allaah to protect the Muslims from all temptations, visible and invisible, and to protect us and guide us.

End quote from Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (16/199)

The Prophet (SAW) was the best of mankind and has taught us everything that we need to know about our life he even taught us how we can deal with stress. Stress and anxiety are common words in our life today. Every person complains about being stressed and I also was a victim of stress and anxiety but Alhamdulillah I applied some of the techniques from the Sunnah portrayed in the Book “The Jinn and Human Sickness” by  Dr. Abu’l-Mundhir Khaleel ibn Ibrahim Ameen.  But first before I talk about stress relievers let us see some of the causes of stress

General Causes of Stress

  1. Debts
  2. Worrying about Sustenance (Rizq)
  3. Loss of a loved one
  4. Poverty
  5. idleness and many others
