Ubayy ibn Ka‘b (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

I said: O Messenger of Allah, I want to send more blessings upon you (before offering supplication); how much of my supplication should I allocate to that?

He said: “Whatever you wish.”

I said: One quarter?

He said “Whatever you wish, but if you do more, it will be better for you.”

I said: Half?

He said: “Whatever you wish but if you do more, it will be better for you.”

I said: Two thirds?

He said: “Whatever you wish, but if you do more, it will be better for you.”

I said: Shall I make all of my supplication for that?

He said: Then your worries will be taken care of and your sin will be forgiven.”

O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent prayers upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim; You are indeed Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim; You are indeed Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory.

O you who have believed, repent to Allāh with sincere repentance. Perhaps your Lord will remove from you your misdeeds and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow [on] the Day when Allāh will not disgrace the Prophet and those who believed with him. Their light will proceed before them and on their right; they will say, Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us. Indeed, You are over all things competent.
