Introduction

‘Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said,

The two Rak’ah before the dawn (Fajr) prayer are better than this world and all it contains.”

Narrated by Muslim

Emphasis on Praying Two Rak’ah Before Fajr

The two Rak’ah before Fajr prayer are better than the world and all it contains. The Prophet ﷺ put more emphasis in performing this Sunnah prayer and never missed it.

‘Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported:

The Prophet (ﷺ) did not attach more importance to any Nawafil prayer than the two Rak’ah of prayer before dawn (Fajr) prayer.”

Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

How Did The Prophet ﷺ Pray This Two Rak’ah

The Prophet ﷺ used to make these two Rak’ahs very short as narrated by ‘Aishah and Hafsa (May Allah be pleased with them).

He ﷺ would recite Surat Al-Kafirun (Quran: Chapter 109) in the first Rak’ah and Surah Surat Al-Ikhlas (Quran: Chapter 112) in the Second Rak’ah. (Narrated by Muslim)

After the prayer, The Prophet ﷺ will lie down on his right side until the Iqamah is called.

‘Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported:

When the Prophet (ﷺ) had performed two Rak’ah before the Fajr prayer, he would lie down on his right side.”

Narrated by Al-Bukhari
